Practicing the Front Exercise

Intermediate Class

This class is for dogs that have completed a Beginners class. More advanced work will be done and you will increase the number of commands your dog willrespond to.
There will also be a Heartland Good Citizen Test at the end of the 6 week class.


Your dog will learn to come to you - not you to him!

FOR ALL CLASSES

Veterinarian proof of Vaccination against Rabies, Parvo and Distemper Must Be Provided at Sign-up or your first class.

Most Classes Have A Limit of 12 Dogs per Class

Pre-Dog Ownership Sessions -

Owning a dog is a great responsibility. This session is designed to help you understand what is involved. Sitting PuppyIf you are undecided about the kind of dog you want, we will try to help you choose a breed that will fit your life-style. Choosing the correct pet for your family is the first step to a happy relationship.

Session For The Owners of Puppies Up to 12 Weeks of Age.

This session will start you on a program of Housebreaking and general Household Manners. Most puppies love to come to classIf you are aware of the possible problems you may encounter with your puppy and how to correct those problems, you will be able to cope with the weeks before you enroll in a regular Puppy Class.

Puppy Class for Puppies 3 to 6 Months of Age.
(large breeds 3 to 5 months of age).

This class is designed to expose your puppy to many new and different situations. Socialization plays an important role in having a well mannered adult dog - one which will accept new experiences without fear. It's important to expose your puppy to new situations and other people at this ageThe training is done at the puppy's mental level.

Lessons include:

  • walking on a loose lead
  • sitting when you stop
  • coming when called
  • and a very modified sit and down stay
  • We also introduce"Door Practice" - teaching a pup they cannot go out of a door without your permission
  • and whistle training - teaching the puppy to come to you on a whistle tone if they cannot hear your voice.

This class also will have a short talk on housebreaking, chewing, nutrition, household grooming, etc.

This is a 6 week class and you will meet for one hour.

Basic Beginners Class for Dogs close to 6 Months of Age

Now that your dog is more mentally mature, your lessons will be more structured. At the end of the 8 week class, you can expect your dog to:This little dog will need training to walk nicely by your side!

  • walk at your side - without pulling
  • to sit when you stop
  • and to come when called.

The sit-stay and down-stay will mean just that. We also introduce "Door Practice" - teaching a dog they cannot go out of a door without your permission and whistle training - teaching the dog to come to you on a whistle tone if they cannot hear your voice.

This class is an 8 week course and meets once a week.
The fee is $80.00 and includes a collar and leash.

(Prerequisite - Intermediate Class or equivalent training)

If you have a desire to show your dog in Competition Obedience for Pure-Bred and Mixed Breeds Maybe you've decided that it's time to show the world how well your dog behaves!or just want to continue with your dog for the fun of it, this is the class for you.
